The stablemates Enuffisenuff and Profundo indicated they could both be top chances at this Saturday’s Wellington meeting when they worked strongly together at this morning’s Hastings track session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided deep footing.
Enuffisenuff and Profundo worked in from the 1000-metre peg and applied the speed over the last 800 in 50.2, the final 600 in 37.6.
Enuffisenuff will be entered for the Rating 65 1600 at Trentham. She is coming off a last start fifth over 1600 at Te Rapa, where she was caught wide, and that followed an impressive win on her home track last month.
Profundo will be entered for the maiden 1600 at Trentham, where Jonathan Riddell will have the ride. He has taken time to come to it as a racehorse but showed a marked improvement when second over 1400 metres at Otaki last start.
Outback Girl took the time honours at the session when she sped over 800 metres in 48, the last 600 in 35.8. She worked in blinkers which probably made her gallop a lot keener than was needed.
Neversaynever, who resumes from a short break in the Rating 85 1400 at Trentham on Saturday, worked on her own over 1200 metres in 1:26, the last 1000 in 1:9 and final 600 in 40.2. She looks in great order and has raced well when fresh in the past.
The Hombre, a contender for the Group 2 Concorde (1200m) at Ellerslie on Saturday, was not hurried when running 1000 metres in 1:10.2, the last 600 in 39.5. He is another who looks well and Jason Waddell has been booked to ride him.
Scareaway ran an easy 600 metres on her own in 42.9 and was then paired up with Adventador and they cut out another 600 metres in a quick 36.7.
Scareaway lines up in a maiden 1600 at Waipukurau on Sunday while Adventador goes to Trentham on Saturday for the three-year-old race over 1400 metres.
Makeba, a promising maiden galloper in the John Bary stable, clocked 52.9 for 800 metres, the last 600 in 38.5 while a Keeninsky three-year-old in the same stable ended his work with 600 metres in 37.7.
Screamadelica showed she is coming up well in a new campaign by sprinting keenly over 600 metres in 37.3 while Firekeeper ran an easy 600 metres and then sped up over a second one in 36.9.
Desi Girl and Catwalk Queen, two others in the Bary stable, covered 1000 metres in 1:7.5, the last 600 in 38.1 while Randy Andy and Rhodan worked together over the same ground in 1:9.8, the last 600 in 37.8.
Brutally Handsome and a Bernadini-Gussy Godiva two-year-old filly ran an easy 600 metres in 39.9 while Crumpet appeared to slightly lame in the nearside shoulder after running a solo 1000 metres in 1:17.8, the last 600 in 45.1.
Tullamayo took 56.56 for an easy 800 metres, the last 600 in 40.7 while Abyssinian worked in from the 1200-metre peg in 1:29.3, the last 600 in 41.3.
Darceeduncan, Commett, Rio Nugget and a Savabeel-Enlighten three-year-old filly were among a number of horses restricted to just three-quarter pace.
