Starguru rounded off her preparation for Saturday’s Group 1 Telegraph Handicap at Trentham with an easy workout on her own at this morning’s Hastings track session.
Galloping was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Starguru worked over 800 metres in 56.9, coming home the last 600 in 42.4. The Ishiguru mare looks in good order but faces a big task from a very wide barrier draw in Saturday’s 1200-metre event. Rosie Myers has been booked to ride her.
Scareaway worked over a round on the plough and was timed to run from the 1200-metre peg in 1:19.9, coming home the last 600 in 39.4. She disappointed at Awapuni last Saturday and will now be stepped up to 2000 metres at the Hawke’s Bay meeting next Wednesday.
Zsa Zsa, another likely runner at Hastings next Wednesday, clocked 1:19.6 for 1200 metres, the last 600 in 38.8. She was well beaten in her race debut over 1400 metres at Otaki but will be stepped up to 1600 metres next week.
Truly Wishful underwent two and a half rounds of half-pace and then galloped home 1000 metres in 1:3.4, the last 600 in 37. He went a good race for fifth over 1200 metres at Otaki last start.
Post Online was restricted to just three-quarter pace, running home his last 600 in 44.7. He is a Postponed four-year-old gelding in the Lowry/Cullen stable and could make his race debut at next Wednesday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting.
A Handsome Ransom three-year-old filly in the stable of James Bridge clocked 1:14.5 for an easy 1000 metres, the last 600 in 43.3 while a Howbaddouwantit there-year-old filly in the same stable ended her work with 600 metres in 39.7.
Flower Of Fashion was kept to just three-quarter pace when working over a round while a Captain Rio three-year-old colt ran an easy 600 metres in 43.4. He is a full-brother to the capable galloper Captain Kirk.
